"Yes, I’m bitter about a violent crime perpetrated against another person, and the fact that all too often people try to excuse such crimes and blame the survivor. I’m bitter that this means that this crime is under-reported, and of reported incidences, only 1 in 16 rapists ever see prison. I’m bitter that people who have not had such a crime perpetrated against them judge survivors based on how they deal with their trauma. I’m bitter that people who have not experienced it make jokes about it, and that a survivor’s clothing or level of sobriety apparently makes it acceptable in some cases. I’m bitter that people just assume survivors are lying, and that rape occurs most often to those lacking privilege in certain areas, as though they are less human, or deserve it. Yes, I am fucking bitter."
